Provigil Dosage and Benefits

It was named ‘the secret to success’ by ABC news. Millions of people attest to its great efficiency and claim they would not be able to work the same way without it. It is said to be the go-to drug for improving concentration and reducing excessive sleepiness and chronic fatigue. Below is a comprehensive guide of the drug Provigil and all there is to know about its functions, dosage, side effects and its interaction with the human body.

WHAT IT IS:

Provigil is a drug that is said to promote wakefulness in adults. It was formulated in the late 1970s by Professor Emeritus and neurophysiologist Michael Jouvet and the Lafon Laboratories in France. It is sold as a prescription drug under the name Modiodal in France, Modavigil in Australia and Switzerland and Provigil in the USA and the UK. There is no official research conducted on the specific way that this drug works. However, a largely accepted theory is that Provigil alters the neurotransmitters in the brain which are chemical substances that aid in the transfer of impulses from the brain to the body and vice versa.

The same way that Nicotine starts off as a cognitive enhancer but after several uses becomes a cognitive normalizer, Morgan thinks that there is no reason to believe that Provigil will be any different after long-term use. He also states that a possible long-term use may cause deficits in slow-wave sleep of users. It has also been reported that Provigil may very rarely cause dependence or addiction in some users. Consult your doctor to find out how long you should take prescribed Provigil for.

USE IN SILICON VALLEY:

It is also reported that most entrepreneurs in the Silicon Valley that confess to the usage of Provigil use it regularly to work twenty hour shifts daily to give themselves and their businesses a competitive edge. Th preference of this drug over caffeine stems from the fact that it has cognitive benefits as opposed to just alertness like caffeine.

How in the world can someone claim that modafinil is a “cognitive normalizer”? Or even that it could be similar to nicotine in this respect? I know people who have been taking Provigil for 5+ years, and they STILL benefit from it. I don’t intend to be contentious, but I’m just wondering whether there is any evidence for this claim…

Its just common sense. Tolerance exist with all drugs. After a while your body will adapt, if you take it everyday. Long term users should consider breaks here and there. 🙂
