What is This?
Modafinil, also known as Provigil in the United States of America, is a nootropic stimulant that is used for promoting wakefulness in patients who suffer from sleep disorders such as narcolepsy, obstructive sleep apnea, and shift work sleep disorder. Additionally, the medication can also be used for other conditions, which can only be determined by a licensed physician. The way that Modafinil works is practically unknown; however, it is described as a “wakefulness-promoting agent” that alters neurotransmitters that are located in the human brain.

Previously, it had been stated that one long-term effect of the medication was that it worked to enhance cognition; however, this has not been officially confirmed in any way. As of right now, again, there seems to be no official information regarding positive long-term benefits of Modafinil.
